uuuuUUUUUUUGGGHHHHHH. you cannot simply whisk away labels that have decade-old historical institutions build around them… i’m sorry that you think “gay” and “lesbian” are uncomfortable or negative, but they are used by individuals with specific significance. WE AIN’T HETEROSEXUAL AND WE DON’T WANT TO BE
He’s just saying we shouldn’t need to label ourselves. He’s just preaching that love is love and people should need to be called a certain word based on who they love.
i get that. but we cannot be “blind” to race for the same reasons we cannot ignore gender/sexuality labels. i appreciate that there are celebrities — extremely famous, famous people — speaking out for gay rights. that is AMAZING!
when i was in highschool, just 5-6 years ago, it was pretty uncommon for a celebrity to outright support the lgbtq+ community. now it is commonplace and i honestly did not think it would happen so soon.
YES, it is great that josh hutcherson is openly supporting our community. he said some beautiful words, truly. i just want our knowledge and understanding of the community to grow opener and wider! the better our public consciousness, the better we treat and understand one another.
